I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend! Today is the best I have felt all week, maybe it’s because I’m feeling well enough to start eating again, or maybe it’s the increase of corticosteroids to 50mg per day for the next three days. The steroids have certainly helped my shoulders!
I was taken to emergency on Tuesday night, I presented to my GP with severe stomach pain, he gave me morphine and sent me to emergency. In emergency they were unable to canulate so sent me home (as they were busy) with a quick diagnosis of gastroenteritis (which my GP told me was absurd considering the symptoms that I had presented with and my history). As a result I ended up in emergency again on Friday night, luckily they were able to canulate on the first try so two bags of fluids later and results of blood work, the doctors in emergency have agreed with my GP and are organizing a referral to a gastroenterologist. They are now investigating the stomach pains which began occurring while I was pregnant with Jake. They tend to follow a severe flare up and can leave me feeling bruised for days afterwards. The doctors have suspected Crohn’s Disease for years. Now they are seeking a confirmation, (although they also suggested Irritable Bowel Disease or Endometriosis as other potential causes, I think we can rule out the last one, the more research I have done the symptoms don’t seem to fit).
I have done a lot of research on Crohn’s and IBD and I have to say that I have a huge amount of respect for what those diagnosed with these conditions are forced to endure (I’m crossing everything that it turns out to be something much less sinister which can be fixed with a course of antibiotics!).

I apologise for not posting anything for a little while. As you can see I have been feeling far from my usual self. I hope that everyone has had a fantastic weekend!
