Solving the Problem of Illegal Parking in Disability Parking Bays

Posted on

As a holder of a disability parking permit, it frustrates me when these parks are used by non permit holders for no other reason other then their own convenience.

I recently posted this idea on No Permit No Park’s facebook page and would love to hear your feedback. At the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital there is designated parking for medical specialists. In these parking spaces is a device which pops up when the designated car is not parked there and retracts when it recognises the designated car. Currently the fine is $220 when caught using a designated disability parking space without a permit. I don’t know how much this technology costs but could the money raised from these fines be invested into this technology being implemented into disability parking bays. A chip (or similar) could be embeded into each disability parking permit therefore eliminating the misuse of these much needed carparks?
